Join us on an enjoyable Sri Lanka Beach holiday in Talalla! 🇱🇰❤️

Tucked away on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, Talalla combines white and gold sandy beaches with turquoise blue ocean waters for a paradise-like travel destination.

After an eventful visit to Galle Sri Lanka, we headed to Talalla for a couple of days of rest and relaxation.

We found a magnificent holiday home next to the ocean, which we shared with the super nice Russian owners. We had a big private pool and beautiful lawn to soak up the hot Sri Lankan sun.

Unfortunately, the place had no air conditioning and the first night was quite challenging in terms of adjusting to the heat and the hot humid air. Locals and long-term expats have probably acclimatized over time, but we had to get a fan. 🥵

Right outside our backdoor, where the Indian Ocean kissed the gold sends, we had a wonderful sandy beach all to ourselves.

Our days in Talalla included lots of water activities that kept us cool from the hot Sri Lankan sun. The girls also attempted to do some school work, but heat and learning didn’t go hand in hand.

We also had our very first ride on a local bus complete with an on-board “music & light show”. It took us to a nearby town where we visited the fish market full of fresh, diverse catch.

After we bought everything we needed for a delicious seafood meal, we went back to the estate where our new Russian friends helped us prepare dinner. Sushi, tuna steak, rice, and salad went together perfectly with the beautiful sunset in the background.

In the morning, Chantal went to buy some bread and heard music coming from the school, which we learned was a tradition in Talalla. Then she did her morning yoga and soon after it was time for breakfast.

This time Angelique prepared us tasty banana pancakes with cocoa powder.

In need of some essentials, we took a bus ride to Dikwella, but on the way back we had engine troubles that the driver fixed the Sri Lankan way - with a branch. Crazy to believe, but it worked!

And good that it worked, because we were late for a meet-up with a local Talalla family. We didn’t expect food, but they treated us to delicious, traditional Sri Lankan dishes.

They also showed us how they grew and produced pepper and took us through a rice field to a cinnamon garden.

To finish the amazing day, we joined our Russian hosts for a sunset stroll on the beach where we found a relaxing beach restaurant and shared a nice dinner.

They say all good things come to an end, and before we knew it, our trip to Talalla, Sri Lanka was over.

In the morning, we said our goodbyes and headed to our next destination near Weligama.
