I sat down with children's author Simon Hunt, and he told me about how an idea he had in his classroom came to life in the form of a children's book with thousands of sales across the world. I told him how an idea I had in my classroom came to life and became a song welcoming the World Cup in Qatar, celebrated all over Qatar during the FIFA 2022 World Cup. What was consistent in both narratives? The students that encouraged us both. Simon would go on to have tea with Loki actor Tom Hiddleston, and I would hear my song played in the malls if Qatar and Lusail Boulevard.
What do we say to out students? If I can do it, you can do it too.
