Exploring Ruins of Communism in former Yugoslavia #shorts

As guerrilla preservationists, we capture neglected sites and their stories before they vanish into obscurity, using our cameras to document their fading beauty. During our first Balkans journey, we stumbled upon a historical political school, once commissioned by Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito, but now dilapidated and forgotten. Established in the 1980s, the college served as a central educational hub for Communist party members, boasting amenities like a cinema, gym, and a bomb shelter. However, the outbreak of the Yugoslav Wars in the early 1990s led to its closure and subsequent abandonment, transforming it into a derelict concrete monster. Despite its decay, the structure holds a peculiar charm admired by architects and brutalism enthusiasts, yet locals lament its neglect and urge for restoration. Sadly, government idleness leaves the fate of this symbol of Yugoslav socialism uncertain, relying on the initiative of urban explorers to preserve this legacy. #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex
