The King of Nobody's Island

The Manitowish Waters Historical Society is excited to share a unique Northwoods fictional novel published in 1909, “The King of Nobody’s Island”. I have created a 10-minute YouTube video that helps contextualize the novel and provides numerous historic maps with markers to help readers follow the characters journeys. I also deliver a tutorial on how to download the file from the Library of Congress on to personal computers or tablets.

“The King of Nobody’s Island” is a quick read and appears to be set during the early 1890’s. This rugged frontier era of the Northwoods is one of my favorites to research. The author’s descriptions seemingly match the earliest days of Northwoods railroad access with surprising accuracy.
