House Oversight Chair requests briefing from Secret Service after WHCD shooting
From the PEP Radio Newsroom, we have this news, …
House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said Sunday that his committee has requested a briefing from the Secret Service after a shooting outside the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday.
The gunman’s ability to get in such close proximity to a heavily guarded event attended by Donald Trump and multiple members of his administration has renewed scrutiny of the president’s security detail and raised questions about how the incident transpired.
Comer previously held a hearing with the director of the Secret Service following the assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign event in Butler, Penn., in 2024.
Secret Service Director Sean Curran noted in a statement that agents were able to apprehend the shooter, which “shows that our multi-layered protection works.”
All of which begs the question, does the US House Oversight Committee think that the events at the WHCD were a complete set-up? Was the entire thing staged, especially given Karoline Leavitt’s red-carpet words, “It will be entertaining. There will be some shots fired tonight in the room’? What makes this all the more unusual is that shortly after the WHCD ended, and Trump returned to the White House, he promoted the $400 million White House Ballroom, claiming this would never have happened, if the event had been at the East Wing ballroom. Stay tuned as events unfold. From the PEP Radio Newsroom, I’m David Moore.
