WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY - OSPREY pair building nest, taking advantage of WILDLIFE PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

This week I took a couple hours to photograph a pair of Osprey building a new nest. This was an unplanned encounter and resulted in a great opportunity to practice getting flight shots. Photographing birds in flight is something that I find I need to constantly practice in order to improve and remain sharp.

These were not my ideal or normal shooting conditions, but it was a chance to practice and it ended up being a whole lot of fun. If we only practice in ideal or perfect conditions or scenarios, we'll get so little practice that we'll miss more shots than we'll get when we do find that perfect scenario. I like to take advantage of a chance to practice whenever I can. Watching and photographing these birds was a great learning experience and a great chance to watch some amazing behavior with nearly unlimited opportunities for flight shots.

I'm glad I altered my plans in order to practice. What a fun experience and I walked away with some pretty cool images! I hope you enjoy!
