The most famous of Bani Boya is Azad-ud-Daulah 366 AH to 372 AH. After that chaos arose in the Bani Boya government. In Iraq, Ray and Persia, the Bayhi princes established separate governments. Among them, Ray's rule was famous in that its ruler, Fakhr al-Dawlah, had a great able minister, Sahib Ibn Ibad. Sahib served as a minister for 12 years from 373 AH to 385 AH and achieved such fame as Baramka had achieved during the Abbasid Caliphate.

Termination
Ray's rule was ended in 420 AH by the ruler of Ghazni, Mahmud Ghaznavi. After that, in 447 AH, the Seljuqs captured Baghdad and destroyed the kingdom of Bani Boya from everywhere. The Bani Boya were Shia in terms of faith and the practice of paying ta'zia in the month of Muharram and performing the rituals of Ashura started from the time of their ruler Mu'az-ud-Daula.

Patronage of knowledge and literature
Many rulers and ministers of Bani Boya were great patrons of knowledge and literature. Azd al-Dawlah and Sahib Ibn Ibad were particularly famous in this regard. The greatest poet of the Arabic language, Abu al-Tayeb Mutnabi, was born in the same period from 910 AH to 965 AH.

The famous physician and philosopher Bu Ali Sina was born in the same period from 370 AH to 428 AH. Ibn Sina was the greatest Muslim physician after Razi. The book he wrote in medicine is called "Al-Qunun" and the biggest book he wrote on the subject of philosophy is called "Al-Shifa". Both these books are in several volumes and are in Arabic language. Later these books were translated into Latin and other European languages and were taught for many years in seminaries in France, Germany and Italy.

Among the scientists of the same era, the name of Ibn Al-Haytham 348 AH to 430 AH corresponding to 965 AH to 1039 AH is also worth mentioning. He was a resident of Basra and a contemporary of Ibn Sina. He wrote many books on physics and science. European researchers say that the theory on which the camera was built was first presented by Ibn al-Haytham. His book "Kitab al-Muhammad" in which he presented this theory was translated from Arabic into Latin in the twelfth century and was used by European scientists. Due to his achievements, Ibn Al-Haytham's 1000th anniversary was celebrated in Pakistan in November 1969. The famous philosophy book "Rasail Akhwan al-Safa" was also written during this period.

Despite these achievements of Bani Boya, their rule led to the weakening of beliefs and moral corruption among Muslims. Religious bigotry and sectarianism had taken firm root among Muslims in the fourth century Hijri, and unlike the Abbasid period, scholars of different faiths were seen in abundance. Baghdad became a hotbed of sectarian violence.
