Augusta of Great Britain a Lost Princess

Princess Augusta of Great Britain (1737-1813) was a prominent member of the British royal family during the 18th century. Born Augusta Fredericka, she was the second daughter of King George II and Queen Caroline. Princess Augusta married Charles William Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, in 1764 and became the Duchess of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Despite spending much of her life in Germany, Princess Augusta maintained close ties with her British relatives and played a significant role in diplomatic affairs between Britain and Europe. Known for her intelligence and strong character, her contemporaries highly respected her. Princess Augusta was also keenly interested in the arts and sciences, actively supporting cultural and intellectual endeavours. Her influence extended to the court of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, where she was involved in administrative and philanthropic activities. Princess Augusta's life exemplified the importance of royal alliances and cultural exchange during the 18th century.
