Kirby Hall

Join us on our History Roadshow. We travel to Kirby Hall, Northamptonshire. Kirby Hall was begun in 1570 by Sir Humphrey Stafford and completed by Sir Christopher Hatton.

The story of Hatton is true to life rags to riches affair, he first caught the queens eye with his dancing skills, quickly becoming a favourite with in the courtier circles. His promotions were also promptly bestowed on him, these included becoming Lord Chancellor and a Knight of the Garter.

Kirby Hall is one of the finest sixteenth century houses built in the reign of Elizabeth I. Today you can visit this pleasant and once lavish home, decorated to the highest standards with a French and Italian architectural feel.

The gardens have been transformed and reconstructed to how they would have originally looked in the 17th century.
