In this video I'll be taking a look at the Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200.

I met Rich from H&K back in August at 42 Gear Street and we decided to make some videos. I started off shooting a bunch of videos for the new Spirit Nano amps (Check those out if you haven't already done so!) and that brought us nicely to the bigger brother of the range, the BLACK SPIRIT 200.

This is a 200w MONSTER of an amp. It has 4 channels, each with a footswitchable boost, 4 modulation effects (chorus, flanger, tremolo and phaser), built in delay and reverb, MIDI control, a DI out with 8 cab simulations, sagging control and an FX loop... LOTS OF SPEC!

In the video I run over a bunch of tones and features of this amp and show you how it can take you from super clean funky cleans to soaring high gain rock tones.

Hughes & Kettner refer to this as being the fourth way to make amps. It is powered by the Spirit Tone Generator which interacts with every stage of the circuit to give you that valve tone, feel and response.

In the video I am using my Vola OZ ROA guitar plugged straight into the H&K Black Spirit 200. The head is running into a Kool Amplification 1x12 guitar cab which is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT 440 mic.
