While the titanic clash of Plataea was taking place in mainland Greece, another more obscure but equally important battle was about to begin at the other side of the Aegean sea.
Elements of the Greek fleet would face the remnants of the Persian fleet in a pitched battle, at the southern side of Cape Mycale.
