"Intertwined with the caterpillar" - A cabbage worm to be exact, but it's also normally used to refer to caterpillars in a non-specific way.

"Touching the stale scales" - Possibly in the sense of light [from the chandelier] "touching" [="reaching"] the scales.

"Show how you sway" - Note that "show" is written with a kanji usually not used for that word, adding a sense of having a captivating, charismatic aura around the act of showing.
