Puff Pastry and Wonton ideas using some delicious fillings like Pizza and Muffuletta Salad, Recipes are below. Enjoy! and thanks for watching! Pete.
Muffuletta Filling ( enough for 2 Puff Pastries )
- 6 slices of each Italian meat, mortadella, salami and ham, chop into 1/2 pieces
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated provolone cheese
- 1 cup Muffuletta Salad Mix
- mix all well
Pizza Filling: ( enough for 1 puff pastry )
- 30 slices of pepperoni sliced into quarters
- 4 basil leaves finely chopped
- 2 cups of Italian mix grated cheese
- 1/2 cup of sliced green olives
- 1/2 tsp. of oregano
- 2 Tbs. of onions finely diced
- 1 cup of pizza sauce
The Pastry:
- Frozen Puff Pastry Sheets, two 10''X10'' sheets per box and that's how many you'll need for this recipe. Thaw in the fridge overnight prior to using
- Sprinkle flour on rolling surface, lay out puff pastry sheet on top, sprinkle flour on hands, on top of pastry and on roller to prevent sticking
- Gently roll out the pastry sheet to evenly add approximately 2'' on each side
- Using a sharp knife place slits 1-1/2" wide and 3" long on 2 opposing sides (see video)
- Lay the filling down the centre where there are no slits, spread evenly into a loaf
- Fold in the end slits first then crisscross the cut slits all the way down the loaf, trim any excess with the knife ( see video )
- Place the Puff Pastries on a cookie sheet with parchment paper
- Beat one egg in a bowl and brush it on top of each Puff Pastry
- Add a sprinkle of fresh grated parmesan cheese on top
- Place in a pre heated 375F oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown
Great as a meal or cut into small portions for an appetizer
Wontons:
- Egg wash 2 edges add filling, fold and seal with a fork
- Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown
