American Bandstand 1963 – TOP 10 – Sally, Go 'Round The Roses, The Jaynetts
Airdate: September 28, 1963
This clip comes from an episode courtesy of @jthyme. Thank you Gary!
The Jaynetts’ (somewhat mysterious) one hit peaks at #2 today on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Regulars dancing today are Bruce Richard, Pat Carpino & Sandi Bartholomew, Gary Stapleford, Michelle Liebowitz, Mike Barone & Ailyene Silverman, Richie Cartledge & Geri Iannetti, Steve Lewis & Lorraine Iannetti, Barbara Warchol and Sandra Short.
I love how the Top 10 board is still handwritten even in these later Philly episodes. Can you spot all of the misspellings?
In American Bandstand History - According to Dick Clark, either last week or maybe in the next week or two, “She Loves You” by The Beatles will be played on Record Review (sorry, it was not in this episode) receiving a so-so score of 73. The Philadelphia based "Swan Records" had just released the single on Sept. 16th after it hit #1 in the U.K. back in late August. After the record was played on the show, Dick held up a picture of the band and “When the kids saw a photo of the four long-haired lads, they just laughed.”
Thank you for watching!
