Setting Pre hung Doors Thanks Gary Katz!

As a framer, I don't set many doors. On the custom or spec homes we build, I will usually set 2 doors per house. The front door, and a rear door, often in the back of the garage. Even though I was taught how to set doors by my mentor, and later our finish carp, the easiest method for me to remember is in this video.

It doesn't take long to learn, is repeatable and easy to teach. I actually save the photos from this article in Google Drive so that if its been awhile, I can refresh my memory.

Its true that all of you do a better job than me, but this method works well and we don't have call backs.

One point to clarify, I don't drive a screw through the upper hinge because at this stage the house is drying out. I set the door so we can install exterior trim and siding. After the house has dried out, been drywalled and air sealed (https://cascadeaerobarrier.com/), the trim carpenter can make some adjustments if needed.
