Will Anyone Care About My Grades? | Why No One Cares About Your B- Or Your Major
So you just got your first B or C- in high school or college and you're freaking out. You see your life flash before your eyes and how when you go to apply for your first job, they'll see your grades and immediately reject you.
How much of this is truth vs just some weird made up fantasy in your mind?
In my experience, the grades you received in high school and college have very, very little consequence in your future life. Basically, after your first or second job, no one is going to care, no one is ever going to look at it again, and you won't even be able to remember what your own grades were and for which class. Your college grade is something you likely wouldn’t even put on your resume, and even if you did, no one will factor that into any decision making process. Trust me on this one.
The truth of the matter is, grades exist to rank students among each other because at one point in time, Harvard / Yale thought it was a good idea to indicate which of their graduates were superior vs inferior.
The reason why they need to exist in a college standpoint makes a bit more sense, as colleges have to have a way of objectively measuring students for admission and have some sort of "certification" that you had some ability to retain information that they taught you in your pursuance to your degree, but other than that, there is really no good reason to ever look at grades ever again.
Take my word for it, after you hit 25, no one is going to care about your grades or sadly, even your major.
