Systema (Система; Sistema) is a efficient military based martial art (ihand-to-hand fighting) system that was developed from Cossack fighting to be used by the KGB and counter terrorism groups of Russian special forces (i.e. Spetsnaz). It concentrates on things such as self-protection (i.e. against knife, club or gun), grappling, and weapons training as well as personal wellness. Systema students train for real-life combat situations and the potential to defend against multiple armed opponents.
Military style fitness improves robustness and also helps an individual cope better under fatigue, both extremely necessary for a solider and hence why they use it. The great benefit of an army workout, is that it can be done nearly anywhere, requires little or no equipment, and mostly relies on bodyweight training and cardio exercise.
Explosive strength exercises, or speed strength exercises, can improve physical performance and may reduce an athlete's risk of injury during activities that involve high power outputs with quick acceleration. Someone with a high level of explosive strength is going to have greater punching power than someone with less explosive strength. Explosive strength refers to an individual’s ability to exert a maximal amount of force in the shortest possible time interval.
Martial arts are beneficial, no matter where you’re coming from. It improves your mental health by boosting your mood and relieving stress. You gain muscle, pump up your metabolism, and increase your flexibility. You improve your cognitive functions.
The Push Up, also referred to as Press Up, is one of the fundamentals of fitness training for Martial Artists. The traditional Push Up should be a cornerstone of every fighters bodyweight routine. Push Ups are a perfect exercise to build strength for martial arts and works out your shoulders, chest, arms and core muscles all at once.
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. There’s no shortage of different types of exercise to try.
Reflexes require no thought. They are automatic, fast, and of huge importance to a human's ability to successfully respond to their environment. Whereas reactions enable us to respond to all kinds of stimuli, reflexes are specifically designed to protect us from harm. Having solid and fast reflexes are the standard of being a fighter. Sure there’s skill, there’s strategy, strength, and all those other qualities. But without the reflexes to utilize those abilities, you won’t survive the round, let alone win the match. Actually, many reflexes are even faster than the blink of an eye! Reaction combination training should be an integral part of your workout routine. It’s not enough to just speed up your reflexes. You also need to improve how you react.
My name is Jacky Spaargaren Sassenburg (aka Sensei Jacky) from Holland. Born in 1970 and raised in an Indo (multi-sport) family with Pencak Silat and Badminton on everyday life menu. Our father was a soldier of the Koninklijk Nederlands Indisch Leger (KNIL) and skilled in military self-defense and hand-to-hand combat. Our mom practiced Kun Tao with her Chinese dad. My brother and I were limitless back in the day.
My passions are awareness in body motion, exploring fear, pain, action, movement mechanics, mind-body connections and finding freedom of movement through exploring movement. I do MMA/Iron Body Conditioning (Urban Hard Qigong), MTB, Skeeleren, Skiing and Badminton.
As a Personal Trainer I want to stay sharp and I have completed the official courses; Kickboxing Instructor, Pads Training, Sports Psychology, Power & Strength, Special Combat & Self Defense, Qigong, Sports Leader, Preventing & Dealing With Aggression & Violence and Sports First Aid.
