Pass the Paycheck Fairness Act

Did you know women earn on average 84 percent of what men do for the same jobs? Senator Tester does and that’s why he was an original co-sponsor of the Paycheck Fairness Act.

It matters to me, as a woman, that we are paid the same as men for the same job. And that 84% is generous since the pay gap is even wider for women of color and those who work part-time or seasonally.

But not only is Senator Tester’s legislation benefitting women, it benefits everyone. When I make the same as a man, it helps my whole family and the community in which I spend money.

This legislation will:

- Make it easier for workers to sue employers over pay discrimination

- Strengthen protections against retaliation for workers who make discrimination complaints

- Increases penalties for wage discrimination based on gender

The gender pay gap is persistent and can only be addressed if we have the tools we need to challenge discrimination and employers have the incentives they need to comply with the law.

Let’s call on Congress to make real change for all workers by passing the Paycheck Fairness Act co-sponsored by Senator Tester.
