With an elevation of 6288 ft (1917 meter), Mt Washington is the highest peak in the northeastern US. Mt Washington Auto Road, a 7.6 mile road that climes Mt Washington from the bottom to the top, with an elevation gain of over 4500 ft.
Mt Washington has been known for its extreme weather: extreme low temperature and high wind, etc. It was a normal summer day when we drove up, sunny and clear, about 85 F degree at the bottom. At the top, it was cold (about 50 F degree), high wind (55 MPH), and thick fog with very poor visibility.
