Van build - How we fit a shower in a 144" Sprinter van!
Are you trying to figure out how to get a shower into your van? Do you want all the fanciest amenities, without sacrificing? Then we've got THE video for you. Follow along as we recount the last several months of struggle to ultimately build a full stainless steel wet bath in our van!
For us while we're living in a van, having access to a shower was a hard requirement. Mandy will be working while we live on the road, so she needs to be able to shower before heading into work each day.
We wanted to build something a little unique, so we opted to build it fully out of stainless steel. It took quite a lot of work, and it's not 100% finished yet, but so far, we are so happy with how it's coming out! We began with a welded stainless steel frame and then filled in each face of the box with a flat panel of stainless steel sheet. We had to split the shower in half, top and bottom, in order to be able to fit it inside the van without welding it in place (which would mean it could never come out).
A massive thank you goes out to our friends Chris and Andrew for helping make this all possible. We couldn't have done it without them. We learned a lot in the process of making this shower for our van. The biggest thing is that we could have eliminated a whole lot of welding by using silicone to install all the shower panels on the bottom half as well. Hopefully someday someone reads this and realizes they can save a ton of work for themselves, I dunno. As always, if you like the video, let your friends know. If you don't like it, let us know!
