Kit Marrs, who's been exploring Alaska for minerals throughout the last 10 years, tells me that Alaska has incredible potential for mineral exploration.

More specifically, in this clip we cover the history of Alaska as a mining jurisdiction, and its potential for future mining in the last frontier.

We cover some important topics such as the social tensions in Alaska, which Kit Marrs actually thinks are rather low in the western part of the state, because mining is a large employer and educator in that part of Alaska. So, he tells me people welcome it.

In terms of taxes, Alaska is special. There is no sales tax, and no income tax. There is a 3% tax for mining companies, as land holders, though.

Alaska's permitting process is rather straightforward and gives many advantages relative to other states or other countries, which are considered among the best mining jurisdictions.

Alaska's weather is cyclical. There are times during which the mining companies don't feel at ease drilling. So, they have to leave. However, with technology improving, it's a matter of effort and time, to be able to operate year-round in Alaska, this CEO tells me.

Alaska's main challenges revolve around the weather, according to these two geologists.

Alaska's proximity to Russia shouldn't be a problem, but there is a large military power present in Alaska, to ensure the safety, according to Kit Marrs.
