MSO Live | Brahms Clarinet Quintet
We will #KeepTheMusicGoing
Following an early retirement from composing, Brahms was prepared for a life of relaxation. That was, until, he heard the playing of clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld; a man so talented that he became the inspiration for a sudden re-emergence into the world of composition.
The piece for which Mühlfeld served as Brahms muse, his Clarinet Quintet, has become one of the most profound and expressive chamber works known to man. Clarinettist Philip Arkinstall is joined by Sophie Rowell (violin), Matthew Tomkins (violin), Christopher Moore (viola) and David Berlin (cello) to bring you this autumnal and rhapsodic masterpiece.

Throughout the ban on public events, and where safe, the MSO will continue to perform for you. Our mission is to share great music, even if you cannot join us in the concert hall.
With ticket sales revenue impacted by the COVID-19 ban, we would ask you to consider a tax-deductible donation to the MSO via the link below. If you hold a ticket to an upcoming concert, and would like to donate the value of your ticket instead of receiving a refund, please email boxoffice@mso.com.au.
Ensuring the health and wellbeing of MSO audiences, musicians and staff – including those integral members employed on casual and contract bases – is our priority. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to ensuring the longevity and sustainability of the MSO and will continue to support workers and musicians through this uncertain period.
Thank you for your support.
