A knife attack at an Assyrian Christian church in Sydney was a terrorist act motivated by suspected religious extremism, Australian police said on April 16, 2024. At least four people, including Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, were wounded in the attack that happened on April 15 during a live-streamed service. Police arrested a male teenager at the scene.
