SCALES OF TRAINING - 6 WAYS TO SUCCEED IN DRESSAGE - (PART 1) | DMA TV EP 341
The scales of training are the stepping stones that riders live by when training dressage horses. Over the years and across a number of nations, all who produce and ride horses use these as their 'mantra'. They also form the basis of what judges look for in horses during the test.
In your dressage journey, no doubt you will encounter challenges in your training. Your horse might be having problems with a particular exercise. For example, when asked to lengthen the trot, perhaps his stride becomes faster rather than longer. Or maybe he consistently picks up the wrong lead. For these problems and others, the diagnostic solution lies in the practical use of the Scales of Training. This is made up of six concepts—rhythm, suppleness, connection, impulsion, straightness and collection.
This is part 1 of a 2 part series. Where we will show you how ANYONE can succeed in dressage, by following 6 simple steps.
