It is all in the last 2-3 fingers, a slight lift, or shift with the thumb or index finger at the heel to apply a good pressure and have total control when sharpening

Adjusting via with just your wrist does not give you a good full alignment and total control.

The wrist has to be locked once the desired angle is secured and with the push/pull action when sharpening will help with steel removal.
