The genesis for the project came after a disappointing Google search for the 10 most beautiful streets in London. What did I find? Over a dozen blogs listing a bunch of unconvincing and mostly unimpressive "Instagrammable" streets from various tourists who simply don't know the city like a local does. Having lived and breathed London for 10 years across multiple bases (flats, jobs and... well, ex-girlfriends' flats) I feel a responsibility to show the world where the beauty really lies in the UK's capital.

The plan is as follows: upload 100 or more walks of streets which I feel belong on the list in no particular order. After this comes the challenge where I assemble them in order and present the list to the world.

Having sunk some serious hours in already, I have a shortlist of just over 100 streets for consideration. I must stress, if you have suggestions for streets you'd like to see then please discuss in the comments below. I respond to almost all comments! I will take likes/dislikes as a form of feedback as well, of course. Plus if you have friends and family who love London, by all means share the videos! I could use all the feedback I can get. :)

Waterloo Place is situated in the St James district of central London, leading off from The Mall to the south and linking up to Regent Street St James to the north, dissecting Pall Mall along the way.

There are a number of statues and monuments dotted along the street. At the beginning of the video we see the Duke of York Column, in this case referring to Prince Frederick, the second son of George III. The column was raised in 1834.

At 0:22 we see a statue to John Fox Burgoyne, a British Army officer who served in the Napoleonic Wars and the Crimean War.

At 0:39 we see the Edward VII Memorial Statue. Edward VII was king of the United Kingdom from 1901 to 1910.

At 1:54 we see the Crimean War Memorial commemorating the Allied victory in the aforementioned war of 1853-56. To our left we see a statue of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, who cared for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. To our right we see a statue of Sidney Herbert, a member of parliament who, alongside Nightingale, led the movement after the war for Army Health and reform of the War Office.
