Shipping Container Studio Apartment

A small infill studio apartment design and under consideration for a housing developer in Phoenix, Arizona.

This unit has a full bathroom, sleeping / living room, full kitchen, storage / wardrobes and outdoor spaces for lounging and dining. I am currently doing material research with the goal of finding the most efficient and cost effective method of construction and transportation. Once the first unit has been manufactured, there is a possibility the design can be replicated to serve as a guest home, vacation home, cabin or studio.

The design is based on a standard 8ft x 20ft container, removing one long side, then creating a 6ft x 20ft extension for the entry, storage, and kitchen areas. This keeps most of the complicated plumbing and electrical improvements on the outside of the container itself, removing the need for additional penetrations.
