Not Winning but Still Winning- The Story of the BTCC's MIND NUMBING Points System

How can a guy who finishes 12th every race win the championship outright? It should never be able to happen.

But it did in the BTCC for about 33 years as they decided that if you won your class you'd get the same points as the race winner, instead of breaking things up per class and then having an overall championship. Something so mind numbing it wasn't until the 1990s they fixed it for something much simpler.
