The bone strengthening truth no one’s telling mid life women #bonehealth
You’re not alone—𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴.
This week, I had two powerful conversations with women in their 40s, and it reminded me how vital this message is for all of us navigating midlife.
💬 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! Comment “𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗕” to learn more about exercise and strategies to build stronger bones.
Pilates and yoga are incredible for building core strength, improving mobility, balance, and posture. I love and recommend them often. 🙌
But as a PT and holistic bone health practitioner, I want you to know—
➡️ Light weights and high reps alone won’t build or protect your bones.
➡️ To stimulate bone growth, we need progressive resistance and (when appropriate) impact training.
If you're doing Pilates or yoga, don’t stop!
They’re a great foundation for learning to move well and safely lift heavier—especially Pilates (with a few key adaptations). But they’re just 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 of the solution.
Let’s spread the word to our midlife sisters:
🦴 We need to build our bone and muscle reserve before menopause.
💪 We’re not fragile—we’re fierce.
