Recognizing great work at MetSoc - Metallurgy & Materials Society of CIM

it's December year end and I wanted to review the latest happenings at the Society and what is coming out in the first weeks of January 2020. I hope you took notice of the Call for nominations open until January 27 to recognize peers in our metallurgy and materials community. You can find all the descriptions of the awards online at www.metsoc.org
Also for those in the materials community, the Canadian materials science conference offers two awards as well. The Metals Physics Award and the Metal Chemistry Award. We encourage you to make many nominations online!

Coming up in January we have of course our call for abstracts deadline January 6 for COM 2020. We hope that you will submit an abstract for the conference of metallurgist happening this August in Toronto featuring the theme "emerging technolgies".
We have a new membership chair at the MetSoc Board of Directors. Our new membership chair is Georges Houlachi, Hydro-Quebec and he will be working hard for our community and leading the Emerging Professionals Program.

Speaking of volunteers I would like to take the time to thank everyone that has volunteered their expertise to MetSoc over the course of the year either as a member of our society or those who worked on the conference of metallurgists or any of our other events, thank you.
