Putting on a Bra After stroke, one hand technique
After a stroke, it might be difficult for those who needs to wear a bra. But there is a technique on how to put it on using one hand. First you sit close to a support at your weak side. Place the bra on your lap and Hook it with one hand. It might be very difficult but with practice you will get better with it. You might also want to use a sports bra but if you don’t this technique should help you. Next, put your thumb in the back side and at the strap of the affected side then put your weak arm through. Then put your good arm through the back and the strap like you would when you put on a T-shirt. Next you put your head through and then adjust. Lean towards your good side if you need to adjust at the weaker side. You can also use a back scratcher to make it easier to reach difficult to reach area.Taking it off also needs a little bit of practice. First you remove your stronger arm then remove your affected arm from the straps. Next, you turn the bra so that the back portion is in front. Now it will be easier for you to remove the hooks. I hope this helps for those who still need to wear bras after having a stroke.
