"Blames BREXIT For Its Failure!" - Kevin O'Sullivan Blasts Composer Slamming Brits After Play Flop

Talk’s Kevin O’Sullivan is joined by political consultant Gawain Towler who says Rufus Wainwright’s comment about Brits being ‘narrow-minded’ after his play’s ‘flop’, is “a push at best”.

Wainwright has stood by his musical Opening Night, despite its premature closure due to mixed reviews.

He suggested that West End audiences post-Brexit lack “curiosity” and blamed the British media for turning against the project due to its "too European" nature.

Under the direction of Ivo van Hove, the production premiered at the Gielgud theatre in March but unfortunately had to announce its early closure just a month later.

Reports indicated that some spectators either left during the performance or at the intermission.
