Our Love Story

I may not remember dates and times, for it has been so long ago, but I will try to stay the course of our beginning.
I am going to take you back in time with me, to the summer of 1990, when I first met Grandpa in Cocoa Beach, Florida. There he sat playing his guitar on a stoop on the sidewalk. He sang very beautifully! He knew a lot of songs. I loved the songs he would sing by the Eagles band. I was amazed at how well he could play the guitar and sing, for I know how hard it is to play and sing. I watched my father sing to us kids all the time. The crowd cheered him on, asking him to play a new song he had written, and I sat watching and listening as he started singing an original song, "Win or Lose." After the crowd left, we talked a little about who we are and where we're from, then he went with his guitar. I had been visiting friends in the same apartment complex, and I went walking out back to do a friend's laundry. There he was, with his guitar. We sat talking while doing laundry together. He carried his laundry to the apartment where he was staying, and I followed. He showed me his small room, which had just a refrigerator and a bathroom. We said good night! I left him and traveled back to Daytona Beach, Florida, where I moved into my parents' house. One year later, I decided to go look for this man I barely knew. I left everything behind, and with just my leather jacket and makeup box, I set out to find the man of my dreams. I had no money, no transportation, or even a friend, but I walked approximately 80 miles from Daytona Beach, Florida, to Cocoa Beach, Florida, to meet back up with him. After arriving tired, I learned he no longer lived there. My friends said they don't know where he went. I was sad that I lost my dream. But wait! I remembered he loved the beach, and he loved to cook! I must go to the beachside and look for him at every restaurant. I am sure I will find him. So I walked 12 miles to the beachside. I looked for him in 2 restaurants, but he was not there. I had one more restaurant left. I knock on Spinnaker's Kitchen door, and there he stood. I asked him if he remembered me he said no. I reminded him of the evening we had done laundry together. He said No, I don't remember. I asked him if he would like to get together after work, and he said Sure. That day, I lay on the beach waiting for him to get off work. We finally hooked up and went to the apartment where he was living as a bachelor. We had a great time that day talking about our lives in general and our plans for future goals. He asked if I could spend the night with him, and I said yes! The next day, I had to leave to go back to Daytona Beach I had to work. I asked him to write me if he would like to see me again. We hugged each other, and he wanted to pay my way on a Greyhound bus back home. I accepted. A couple of weeks went by, and I got a letter from him saying he enjoyed my company the last time together. He said if I was ever in town, to look him up. Oh man! I did more than look him up! I packed everything and the kitchen sink, then paid for transportation to get me to him. He had no clue I was coming. I didn't know if he would be at his apartment. Sure enough, I showed up, and he came out the door looking surprised with a big smile on his face. We hugged, and I said Can I stay with you. He brought my belongings into the apartment, and we both waved the driver goodbye. That year, he asked me to be his wife, and I said yes! Across the street and down onto the beach is where we got married. The rest is history.

**TIPS for a Good Marriage: Acceptance, support each other, be a good listener, and be a giver. No matter what, forgive and move on. Do not talk badly about your partner even when you feel that your way is the best. You will go through hard times, life will drag you down, mistakes will happen, and nobody is perfect. We are all sinners, so if you are looking for the perfect marriage, there is no such thing because you fall short of the glory of God. Own up to your faults and don't lie. The truth will set you free. Always pray for God's guidance. Build your marriage on a solid foundation, God.

If you need help, seek guidance immediately. Don't throw your marriage away; it is worth saving.

It takes two for a good marriage; your love for each other is not enough; it takes the two of you to have a whole marriage.

This is our story.
