Welcome to Virginia folks! Next stop McLean!

Hello and welcome to Onsite with Matt Cheney, a collection of short videos following me throughout metropolitan Washington to the neighborhoods I serve as a realtor.

Fun fact: McLean is named after business tycoon John Roll McLean who owned baseball teams and newspapers including The Washington Post. He and a partner built out a trolly line from Georgetown and named the station here after himself. Oh and I mean right here, this is where the station was.

In 1910 McLean was founded when Lewinsville and Langley merged and took the name of local train stop. Today it happens to be considered one of the wealthiest communities in the country.

It is well known for being the home to business owners, heirs, royals, and well a lot of the who’s who of America and the world. Even the Kennedys called it home when they lived here at Hickory Hill.

McLean is pretty big and has great access into Washington DC, Maryland, and Tysons Corner.

Now for some real estate! For today we are covering zip codes 22101 and 22102.

Six Hundred Fifty-Five (655) homes and townhomes sold here in McLean this past year for an average sales price of $1.4M and with an average of forty-four (44) days on the market.

The highest of all those sales was for an almost 9,000 sf, circa 2013 custom home with six (6) bedrooms, six (6) bath home considered to be truly exceptional on a 39,000 sf lot in Langley Farms that sold for $8.6M.

Now for Condos and Co-Ops. There have been two hundred seventy-six (276) units that traded this past year for an average sales price of $410K and had an average of thirty-one (31) days on the market.

The highest condo sale for this past year was for a 2,500 sf, three (3) bed, two (2) bath unit at the brand-new Signet condominiums for $2M.
