Stephensons Trust Corporation is a separate legal entity which is owned by Stephensons Solicitors LLP. The purpose of setting up the Stephensons Trust Corporation was to undertake certain duties, so roles as a trustee, they can act in family trust, business trust, all the different sorts of trusts that are available. They also act as executors within wills. They can be an appointee through the Department of Work and Pensions. They can act as an attorney under a lasting power of attorney or an enduring power of attorney. And they are also court appointed as deputies.
Why is the Trust Corporation a separate company to Stephensons?
The reason why the Trust Corporation is separate is so that obviously it is an independent company. But what happens is the Stephensons Solicitors LLP will instruct the Trust Corporation on matters. Because the Trust Corporation is non-trading, we basically are a client of the Stephensons Solicitors LLP. That enables us to have them do the legal activity on behalf of the Trust Corporation.
What is the benefit of appointing the Trust Corporation?
The benefit of appointing the Trust Corporation is that it offers you obviously a degree of professionalism. The three directors of the Trust Corporation have got a wealth of legal knowledge. They have experience across litigation, contract, private client, taxation, Court of Protection work. So you know that no matter what activity we are about to undertake for you, we're able to do that and manage that well.
There's also a massive degree of flexibility. Because there's the three directors, we are able to act independently from each other. So if there is a period that one of us is say, out of the country on holiday, or away on an illness or a sick leave, then we have somebody to be able to cover that. Also, it provides you with administrative ease. So it gives you somebody who is completely and utterly separate to the Trust in the matters that are being managed. And it also, again, allows a professional to take the relevant advice that is needed.
At Stephensons, we're always happy to help. So if you do want any more information about Stephensons Trust Corporation or any of the services, then by all means, just pick up the phone.
