Table tennis: backhand topspin biomechanics and technique.

This video is the compilation of the different details and secrets of the Chinese players backhand topspin hit.

Initial or Preparatory Phase (bacswin) .

• From the starting position, the MS executor performs an Internal Rotation movement at the shoulder joint, the forearm performs a supination movement and the elbow must be flexed 90 degrees;
• the racket must have an inclined position on its rear face, forming an acute angle with respect to the horizontal
• The opposite upper limb is kept flexed at the elbow and close to the body.
• During the preparatory phase of the BH-TP, the racket must describe a linear oblique trajectory, descending and in the opposite direction to the flight of the ball; This trajectory of the racket must not have significant oscillations (peaks) in the rectilinear trajectory that joins the start and end point of the movement of the racquet, in order to ensure a short time of action.

Active phase.
• The upper executing member performs an upward movement from below - up - forward, assuming the elbow joint as the axis of rotation, keeping the racket closed to be able to hit the ball tangentially. Contact with the ball is made at the beginning of the ascent above and with the angle of the racket with the horizontal as acute as possible.

Final phase.
• After making contact with the ball, the racket continues its course forward and up to the level of the chin.
• The racket will finish its trajectory ending with the elbow extended.
