“Faith Journeys with God in the Land”-Part 23

Prayer was at the heart of Nehemiah and the leadership he exhibited in re-building Jerusalem. The time is about 445 BC. Nehemiah was just given permission to return to Jerusalem. What he found was city that was in massive need of repair. Other than the Temple standing, the walls of this once-fortified city lay in ruins. In 52 days, he restored the walls of the city under difficult circumstances. What marked his leadership was an attitude of prayer and dependence upon God. The role of prayer in Nehemiah’s life found him constantly depending upon God and not his own strength. He cast the needs of his city upon God. He didn’t try to approach the formidable task of rebuilding the city upon himself.
