A brand-new electric vehicle from a brand-new electric vehicle manufacturer. Polestar's initial attempt at home was a plug-in hybrid. The Polestar 2 is a full-fledged production vehicle designed to enable Polestar to establish itself as a key player in the electric vehicle market. It's now going for the most important of all the targets: the Tesla Model 3. The Polestar 2 is the company's second automobile (if the name didn't give it away) and its genuine opportunity at stardom.
It's presently offered in two versions: an entry-level front-wheel-drive, single-motor model with a choice of two battery capacities (a 64kWh standard-range battery or a 78kWh long-range battery), or a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive model with the 78kWh battery as standard.
Updates for 2022?
A new single-motor version and an upgraded dual-motor Polestar 2 are available for the 2022 model year, both of which provide exceptional build quality and performance at a competitive price point—as low as $34,900 with incentives. While neither spec can match Tesla's 0-60 speeds, the new range offers a more comprehensive product, with a comfortable cabin, smart suspension, and near-perfect weight distribution.
Pricing of 2021 Polestar 2
The entry-level 'Standard Range Single Motor' variant, which comes with a 64kWh battery capable of 273 miles of range and a 221bhp electric motor, starts at $55,000. The 'Long Range Single Motor' upgrades the battery to a 78kWh unit that can go 335 miles on a single charge and boosts the output to 228 horsepower. The asking price is $59,000.
Electric motors are installed on both the front and back axles in the top-of-the-line 'Long Range Dual Motor' variant. Despite its 2.1-tonne weight, the car produces slightly over 400 horsepower, divided 50/50 front-to-rear. The price for this is $63,000.
