These 2 PD-105 pads trigger the same sound and are set up with the same settings. However the left one lost its sensitivity slightly. There is a hotspot in the middle where the trigger cone is positioned. The trigger picks up almost no signal near the rim. The pad at the right side is in better condition.
We need to replace the trigger cone to solve this problem.
We use the best drum key in the world to open the pad.
Replace the rim, head and additional the plastic cage.
Compare the new trigger cone with the old one. Make sure the new one has the same measurements, especially if it isn’t an original Roland cone. We got this cone from r-drums. The link for the shop is in the description.
Be really careful when loosening the old cone. Use your fingernails and take your time. Do not pull the cone, otherwise you might loose or damage the piezo.
Use acetone to get rid of the sticky tape rests.
Place the new cone exactly in the middle. You cannot separate it afterwards. Pay attention to the little gap for the cables.
Press it on the peizo.
Assemble the pad and test it.
This pad got its sensitivity back. There is a huge difference, it is even better than the other pad on the right side now.
