Welcome to our third (and last) video exploring Bulgaria! This country has continued to surprise us, and we're so excited to share with Youtube through our travel vlogs! We started our day leaving Sofia in a shuttle and heading to our first stop of the day - Rila Seven Lakes National Park. Here, we had one (maybe two) goals. Hike the seven lakes, and make it back down in time to catch the shuttle to our next stop.
Bulgaria isn't somewhere that came to the front of our minds when we pictured hiking, but it now has a permanent place in our memory because of this incredible hike! From the chair lift, to the emerald colored lakes, to the seemingly endless view, the seven Rila lakes hike is still one of our favorites.
After finishing our hike and making it back down to our shuttle in time, we headed to our second and final stop of the day - Rila Monastery! This is an active monastery nestled in the Rila mountains. Incredible scenery and gorgeous architecture come together to create an extremely unique experience, only to be had in a few places in the world, including Rila :)
Hopefully this travel guide and vlog gives you an idea of things to do as a day trip from Sofia! Our goal has been to show some of the wonderful things to do and see in Bulgaria, so we hope you're inspired to get out and travel as well!
