Basic Electromagnetism for Magnetic Resonance Imaging
MRI is a medical imaging modality that does not use ionizing radiation (such as X-rays or gamma rays) and is considered a non-invasive procedure. Instead, MRIs use a strong magnetic field and radiofrequency waves to take pictures of your brain or soft tissue. The MRI scanner is mainly a metal cylinder surrounded by a strong magnetic field. Thus, understanding the basics of electromagnetism is important to study MRI.
