D flip flop based frequency divider

A frequency divider reduces a clock signal by an integer factor. Using a D flip-flop in toggle mode, the inverted output is fed back to D, causing Q to switch state on every rising clock edge. This produces an output frequency exactly half of the input. The waveform clearly shows the divide-by-2 action as the output toggles once for every two input pulses. Such dividers are used in counters, timers, digital clocks, and communication circuits.
