Schmitt Trigger - working principle and applications

A Schmitt trigger is a comparator that cleans noisy or slowly changing signals using two thresholds: an upper (VUT) and a lower (VLT). The output goes HIGH only when the input rises above VUT and goes LOW when it falls below VLT, creating hysteresis that prevents rapid switching due to noise. This produces a stable square output even from a fluctuating input, making it useful for switch debouncing, noise filtering, and reliable signal detection.
