Parasitoid Wasps

If you’re already a little uneasy with wasps, let me tell you about wasps that have the ability to turn other insects into zombies. That’s right, Parasitoid Wasps, discovered in 2018 are tiny creatures found in the Amazon. But let’s just say that there’s nothing tiny about the way they attack their prey. Parasitoid Wasps have stingers half the length of their bodies. They use these deadly stingers to stun and paralyze their prey while also keeping them alive for the purpose of laying their eggs into them. When the eggs hatch, the baby wasps emerge and eat the host from the inside out, leading to an extremely gruesome death.

However, Parasitoid Wasps are practically harmless to human beings because their big stinger isn’t strong enough to pierce through human skin. So while other insects might be scared of these wasps, at least you can rest easy knowing you’re safe. However, the rate at which new Parasitoid Wasp species are being discovered, scientists believe that it’s only a matter of time before we find waps that are just as deadly to humans.

Hitchhiking Beetle

Discovered in 2017, The Hitchhiking Beetle is going to be your worst nightmare if you’re not fond of insects. While normal beetles usually aren’t that scary, this species is definitely one to watch out for. Why? Because these beetles will sneap up on you when you least expect it. With their tiny red bodies, the Hitchhiking Beetle is usually found resting on top of army ants, perfectly camouflaged to the point where you don’t even realize that they’re there. And that gives the Hitcchiking Beetle the perfect time to jump up and give you a nasty bite.
