Mahmoud Abbas calls on UN to fulfill its responsibility to protect Palestinians

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is urgently calling on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in protecting the Palestinian people.

In his opening speech at the Cairo Speech Summit, Mr Abbas says the country will not accept displacement and will remain steadfast on their land despite the challenges.

He warns against attempts to displace his people form Gaza and attempts to expel Palestinians from their homes elsewhere in Jerusalem or the West Bank.

The Cairo Peace Summit hastily brought together several Arab and European heads of states and government, including Jordan’s King Abdullah and several other foreign ministers.

This comes as Israel prepares a ground assault on Gaza following the October 7 attack from Hamas.
