Nick Peres & Matt Halkes on Immersive Technologies in Healthcare

Nick Peres, Head of Digital Technologies at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) with Matt Halkes, Clinical Director of Innovation and Digital Transformation, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT) discuss their use of immersive technologies that has led to the creation of the VR Lab, one of the first to be set up embedded within the NHS, which now helps inform national strategy. Most importantly however is the impact this space has had on their journey for the past five years - attracting co-design development, creative processes and outputting the learning. In this interview, they cover some of the case examples of immersive technologies in healthcare and the affordances during the COVID 19 pandemic. They share the influence of the outside has had in improving the healthcare journey for patients and staff and how what they have learnt inside healthcare can be taken outside into their communities.
