1:57 The importance of small businesses for the local economy
Despite being in a time when the world seems to be shifting entirely online, financial planner Liz Frazier says it’s extremely important to keep tending those local roots for multiple reasons. One of the timeless advantages a small business has is the face behind their local brand — even during a pandemic when face-to-face seems nonexistent. But it's up to the small business owner to discover ways to leverage localism and their branding to stay personally connected throughout their community. By teaming up with nonprofits, schools and other small businesses in the area, entrepreneurs can strengthen their local brand as they wholeheartedly support the community. Another thing that makes mom-and-pops special is how customers can feel a true sense of connection and familiarity that they can’t get online. As the small business owner celebrates the customers and employees who make their business possible, their local footprint and the community’s support is what keeps their city’s economy thriving.
