Don't forget to include these 5 amazing recommendations into your Istanbul itinerary!

---------------------------

Introduction:

Merhaba everybody and welcome back to another episode of Triple P with me Surya Sridhar. So guys I’m in an amazing place right now. Let me tell you a little bit about it - then you can guess. It was the capital city of three of the biggest empires in the world, and it is the only place in the world that straddles two different continents: Asia and Europe. Guess where I am? In Istanbul! Let’s go explore.

Number 1: Eat and Drink at Iconic Places

Coming to Istanbul is like stepping into a foodie’s paradise and there are couple of places you can’t miss out on. Near the Hagia Sophia, you will find a beautiful and cozy restaurant called The Han Ottoman Cuisine Restaurant where you need to taste their hand-made gözlemeler. The best part is that you can get a live demonstration to see how it is made.

The Hafiz Mustafa Confectionary shop that has been around since 1864 is an absolutely must. They have some of the best sweet dishes in town, and their cheesy and crispy künefe is absolutely mind blowing.

If you want something a little more unconventional try out the Dondurma Irmik Helvasi near the Egyptian bazaar where you can get a cup of Turkish ice-cream topped with hot semolina halwa.

Last but not least, head on over to the Galata Bridge for some fresh seafood. One of the local favourites is the fish sandwich made on the swinging river boat. For more foodie ideas, click on the link above.

Number 2: Shop Till You Drop at the Grand Bazaar

Okay guys so our next stop is the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. It is an amazing place. It is the oldest market in the world, it was constructed in the 15th century and guess what? In one day 250,000 people come here, to check out the 4200 shops. So let’s go explore!

Number 3: Watch a Whirling Dervish Performance

For a better taste of this magnificent city, you need to experience a soulful Sufi music concert and a Whirling Dervish dance ceremony at Istanbul’s Sirkeci Train Station, two cultural influences that heavily impacted classical poetry, calligraphy and the visual arts. A beautiful expression of leaving the material world to seek the spiritual.

Number 4: Take a Bosphorus Night Cruise

At night, this city comes alive and one of the best ways to experience this is by taking a night cruise on The Straight of Istanbul. You can admire the spectacular views of historically illuminated palaces, mosques and Bosphorus bridges, while enjoying a buffet dinner and watching some entertaining performances.

Number 5: Visit The Hagia Sophia Museum

Formerly known as a Greek Orthodox cathedral, that then converted into an Ottoman Imperial Mosque and now stands as a beautiful museum, is a prominent place you cannot miss. You’ll be amazed by the beautiful Christian mosaics, the Islamic plaques with golden inscriptions, the Ottoman tombs and of course, the “Weeping Column” where it is believed that miracles take place. Rotate your thumb completely in a clockwise manner inside the hole to make a wish.

Conclusion:

Okay guys thank you so much for watching and I really hope that you will stay tuned for my travel journeys. Güle-güle from Istanbul!
