"Discovery" - The Inward Journey I Travel Poetry I Surya Sridhar

During the last few weeks due to the COVID-19 situation, many of us around the world have found ourselves not being able to travel. But it made me think about what travel really means. What if we don't have to be physically moved . . . to be moved? What about the inward journey?

DISCOVERY

Sometimes to travel,
one need not cross the 7 seas
but to peer inside and realize,
that there is a life there to seize.

We seek adventure,
and of course the thrill of the ride,
deserted islands and ancient ruins,
but what about the temple inside?

Take a real voyage
into the labyrinth of your heart
getting lost in the why’s and how’s,
finding the answers to a fresh start.

It is a thirst for new horizons
expecting a transformation,
but what if where we’ve been looking is wrong,
and we ourselves are the inspiration?
