2023 Mary Biekkola Wright in the Keweenaw

The Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw and riseUP welcomed the community to a reception on November 2 2023 celebrating the opening of an exhibition honoring community artist Mary Biekkola Wright. Mary Wright, who passed away in 2021, is well known in the Western U.P. as the originator of the Grandma doors, the Heikinpäivä Mittens, and the Story Line project, which wrapped Tech’s Rozsa Center with fabric panels celebrating family members and mentors. The reception was followed by a visit to the exhibit, which will be on through the end of 2023 and perhaps longer.
